Embedded Content

To revel in the lead-up to hearing Stand Atlantic’s pop punk tunes live, the band’s lead singer Bonnie Fraser shares 10 nuggets of her musical inspiration. From heavy Australian classics to famous pair-ups and gay anthems, Stand Atlantic are no strangers to variety in their music taste.

Life Is A Highway – Rascal Flatts

If you don’t feel anything when you listen to this song there is something off with ya!!!!! It hits so good.

Don’t Leave – Snakehips, MØ

When I first heard this song I loved it and that is usually my first indication to me that it will be a song I love forever. This song is full of nostalgia for me.

Drunken Angel – Lucinda Williams

This is a rogue one but I have to include it because Lucinda Williams was an artist my mum would play to me in the car when I was a kid and I still know all the words to so many of her songs. This one particularly just has a very special place in my heart.

Rising Tides – Levity, Lhasa Petik

This song is a god damn vibe and that’s all I gotta say. It reminds me of summer and good times with friends. The drop is insane and hits me everytime.

Lost – Frank Ocean

Channel Orange is one of my favourite albums of all time. This song is a go-to if you’ve never listened to Frank Ocean before (which I’d be surprised if so, but no judgment). This whole album is like caramel to me. The mix is just so slick, smooth, and perfect.

Brooklyn In The Summer – Aloe Blacc

This is a new addition to my favourite song list – as soon as I heard it I fell in love. Obviously it’s in the title but this reminds me of summer and road trips with my friends in LA – great vibes just feels so good to listen to and instantly puts me in a good mood.

Haunted – The Band CAMINO

An absolutely brilliant band, every song hits me in the feels but this song in particular gets me so good everytime i listen to it.

Silk Chiffon – MUNA/Phoebe Bridgers

Gay anthem. Enough said.

Bitter – FLETCHER, Kito

The production, melodies and lyrics in this song are perfect. Always makes me wanna move my booty.

Leave The Door Open – Silk Sonic

If you have never listened to Silk Sonic, you are missing out on so much!!!!!!!! The whole album slaps. Two amazing musicians (Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak) created musical perfection with this.

A Little Piece Of Heaven – Avenged Sevenfold

(This is) nostalgia central for me. I grew up listening to a lot of heavy music (although I wouldn’t classify this as that heavy now), but this is one of the great 7 minute songs that never gets boring. I just love the story of this song.

Carrion – Parkway Drive

Leaders of the Australian heavy music scene for me growing up (and still now). This was one of the first songs that got me into metal and hardcore music when I was younger. This song is a classic and a good entry point in my opinion if you’re curious about heavier music.

Stand Atlantic’s new album, WAS HERE, is now available on all major streaming platforms.
