Fans watching Star Wars: The Acolyte were treated to a surprise revelation in Episode 3. The revelation was that Osha and Mae do not have a father. Naturally, this has confused fans and they want to know why the twin sisters do not have a male parent.

Is the absence of a father figure for Osha and Mae in The Acolyte related to The Force? Here is your answer.

Why does Aniseya say Osha and Mae don’t have a father in Star Wars: The Acolyte?

Osha and Mae do not have a father in The Acolyte because their mother Aniseya somehow created them using The Force. Mother Koril then carried the twins to term. Unfortunately, further details about Osha and Mae’s birth were not revealed, and with Aniseya and Koril’s deaths, it’s unlikely they will ever be.

Mother Aniseya sought to keep the twins’ unconventional birth and existence a secret from the galaxy’s inhabitants, including the Jedi Order. However, despite Aniseya’s best efforts, the Jedi learned of their existence and attempted to recruit them.

Mae and Osha’s conception via the Force connects to the revelation in the Star Wars prequels, wherein Anakin Skywalker was conceived by his mother Shmi without a father. However, in this case, Shmi was unaware and caught off-guard by the conception, as she later revealed to Qui-Gon Jinn.

According to ScreenRant, Aniseya’s life-creation power in The Acolyte is said to be the same one wielded by Darth Plagueis the Wise, Palpatine’s Sith master. This implied that Plagueis would learn this power sometime in the future, before being killed by his apprentice.

As fans know, Palpatine would later tell the story of Plagueis to Anakin, describing his ability to influence the creation of life and achieve immortality via the Force, in an attempt to entice him to embrace the dark side.
