Stare de urgenţă şi ordine de evacuare în Florida înaintea furtunii tropicale Debby: „Luaţi situaţia în serios!”

O furtună tropicală – denumită Debby – care se îndrepta către Florida, în sud-estul Statelor Unite, se „intensifica rapid” şi urma să devină uragan înainte să atingă uscatul, anunţă Centrul american al Uraganelor (NHC), potrivit News.ro. Locuitorii se pregăteau de furtună, ordine de evacuare au fost emise în mai multe comitate, potrivit presei locale, iar preşedintele Joe Biden a decretat starea de urgenţă în Florida, deblocând fonduri federale, relatează AFP.

„Luaţi situaţia în serios””, a cerut şeful pompierilor, însărcinat cu securitatea publică a comitatului Hernando, relatează News.ro.

„Ştim că apa va creşte pe măsură ce trece furtuna”, a avertizat el. NHC a avertizat duminică cu privire la un „pericol potenţial mortal” legat de ploi puternice care pot provoca inundaţii bruşte.

Toată coasta de vest a Floridei, la nivelul Golfului Mexic, a fost plasată în alertă de furtună tropicală, a anunţat Mike Brennan de la NHC.

El le-a cerut locuitorilor „să găsească un loc sigur înainte de căderea nopţii”.

Acesta a anunţat că, timp de mai multe zile, sunt de aşteptat „precipitaţii foarte, foarte puternice”, care ar putea atinge niveluri-record şi eventuale inundaţii bruşte „în zone care nu sunt inundate în mod normal”.

Debby ar putea antrena tonade luni, au avertiza meteorologii.

Preşedintele Joe Biden a decretat duminică starea de urgenţă în Florida şi a deblocat astfel fonduri federale în vederea ajutării autorităţilor locale să înfrunte furtuna în plin sezon al uraganelor.

În iulie, uraganul Beryl, deosebit de precoce, a ucis mai multe persoane în sudul Statelor Unite.

Potrivit previziunilor Agenţiei americane de Observaţie Oceanică şi Atmosferică (NOAA), sezonul uraganelor în Atlanticul de Nord – care durează de la începutul lui iunie şi până la sfârşitul lui noiembrie – urmează să fie deosebit de agitat în acest an, din cauza încălzirii oceanelor, care alimentează intensitatea acestir furtuni.
