NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – A state agency has filed its response to a lawsuit over how court staff are awarded paid time off. The Administrative Office of the Courts sued the Department of Finance and Administration saying it is enforcing restrictions on when workers can use leave and not allowing it to roll over year after year. The courts said they should be able to make those decisions.
But in its response filed this week, the finance department said the courts are trying to consolidate power and avoid legislative oversight and its paid time off policy only costs taxpayers more.
