‘Summer of Nonviolence’ gives local kids a safe break from school

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque Community Safety (ACS) is partnering with Bernalillo County to help kids stay out of trouble while they’re not in school.

The “Summer of Nonviolence” initiative encourages kids to take a pledge to avoid dangerous activity and offers fun, safe alternatives like sports, library programs, outdoor movie screenings, and educational workshops.

ACS said the local youth can fall into vices during summer break, so it’s important to encourage kids to explore positive options.

The Summer of Nonviolence kicks off on Saturday with a free event from 11 to 1 at Pat Hurley Park.
