Survey: PSD-PNL leads with 43.7% in EU election voting intentions

A survey conducted last week by INSCOP for News.ro shows the PSD-PNL alliance leading in voting intentions for the European Parliament elections with 43.7%, followed by AUR at 17.5% and the United Right Alliance (USR-PMP-Forta Dreptei) at 14.1%. These percentages reflect the total number of respondents who expressed a party preference, regardless of whether they plan to vote.

Voting intentions for local councils indicate the following ranking: PSD – 29%, PNL-27.6%, AUR – 14.5%, United Right Alliance – 12.7%. In both types of voting, in the case of the percentages reported to those who say that they come to vote safely, the ranking changes, with the United Right Alliance moving ahead of the AUR.
62.9% of those questioned declare that they will certainly go to the polls after the percentage of them was 59.2% in the April survey.
“In the last month, no spectacular changes have been observed in the voting intention of Romanians resident in the country for the European parliamentary and local elections, possibly also against the background of a very discreet electoral campaign. The May INSCOP survey reinforces the previous main conclusions: The sum of PSD and PNL votes in the local elections is significantly higher than the score of the Electoral Alliance PSD-PNL in the European parliamentary elections which dominates the ranking, the AUR dropped below the 20% threshold, approaching 15 %, the cumulative score of AUR and SOS Romania is somewhere around 20%, and the United Right Alliance is growing, but very slowly”, declares Remus Ştefureac, director of INSCOP Research.
The small parties that submitted lists for the European Parliament elections get very poor results, below the level of the four independent candidates on the ballot. The results of the elections may be influenced by possible developments of the electoral campaign in the last two weeks, if it becomes more dynamic. An important factor will be the vote from the diaspora, which will influence the final scores of the parties”, he added.
