Taos Police Department chief to retire at the end of the year

TAOS, N.M. (KRQE) – After 40 years in law enforcement, Taos Police Department Chief John Wentz is ready to hang up his badge. The city announced that Wentz will retire from the police department at the end of the year.


New Mexico State Police issues more than 370 traffic citations during campaign

He worked for Taos PD for 22 years and became chief in March 2020. The city credited Chief Wentz with guiding the department through the COVID-19 pandemic and the ensuing staffing challenges.
