Court records said back in March 2022, two teenage girls told Gallegos, Estevan Lucero, and Adam Sedillo that someone inside an SUV at the Maverick Gas Station on I-25 and Comanche robbed them. The trio opened fire killing Kayla Montano, injuring her fiancee, and traumatizing everyone inside the vehicle including her seven-year-old daughter.

Judge Courtney Weaks sentenced Gallegos to ten years behind bars as laid out in the plea agreement.
