Temperatures will begin to cool off with the rain over the weekend

Temperatures are continuing to climb across New Mexico. However, the end is in sight.

Central and Southeast New Mexico will see another very hot afternoon today. The National Weather Service have issued Heat Advisories for the Middle Rio Grande Valley and Chaves County. The Middle Rio Grande Valley. including the ABQ Metro, could see 100 Degree Temperatures. Chaves County could see temperatures as high as 106 Degrees. These heat advisories will be in place until 8:00 p.m. on August 21st.

Rain chances tonight will be isolated to northern and western New Mexico. This is due to a high pressure system that has been situated over New Mexico for the past several days. However, tomorrow afternoon this high pressure will release its hold on New Mexico and move over Texas. This relocation will allow for more moisture to be funneled into the state tomorrow and through the weekend.

The best chances for rain will be along western New Mexico. Though the north, southwest, and central regions will be seeing isolated to scattered storms for the next few days. The best chances for rain in Albuquerque will be on Friday and Sunday when much more widespread showers are occurring.
