The Damien Leone-helmed Terrifier 3 is nearing its release date and has already attracted much controversy due to its violent content. The third entry in the renowned slasher-splatter franchise continues the expansion of the Terrifer universe, building upon the horrific adventures of Art the Clown.
In the latest installment, Lauren LaVera’s Sienna attempts to adjust to a new normal following the Halloween massacre, only for Art to disrupt her life once again. Infamous for showcasing extreme gore, a recent screening of Terrifier 3 confirmed this description of the film when 11 people chose to walk out of the movie.
Terrifier 3’s gore is too much to handle, 11 people walk out of an early screening
The first screening of Terrifier 3 in the UK recently saw 11 people walk out of the theater due to the movie’s disturbing content.
As per a report by LADbible, nine viewers of the premiere left the screening in the opening scene of the film itself. Additionally, at least one of the early watchers has been confirmed to have puked after witnessing the slasher flick.
Prior to the walkout incident, director Damien Leone had warned people of Terrifier 3’s extreme sequences. He even opened up about the troubles he encountered while crafting Terrifier 3 due to its gruesome content. “I got to meet with studios who wanted to make Terrifier 3. But before I even had a script, just having meetings and getting the feel that I was going to have eyes over my shoulders,” he said. “They were concerned about the levels of gore and this and that.”
Explaining the controversial opening scene of Terrifier 3, which eventually led to nine people walking out of the film’s first screening, Leone claimed that the movie has much more to offer. “That’s not even the big kill scene,” the filmmaker stated. “So that’s why I was like, I need to just make this movie on my own, because it’s too insane.”
Despite all the backlash, Terrifier 3 currently has an impressive Rotten Tomatoes critic score of 88%. Most of the positive reviews surrounding the project have resulted from its showing in various horror festivals. The much-awaited horror phenomenon will hit the theatres on October 11, 2024.
