The Boys Season 5 Will End Prime Video Superhero Series

Just days away from its Season 4 premiere, showrunner Eric Kripke announced that The Boys Season 5 will be the final season for the hit Prime Video series.

Kripke took to social media on Tuesday to confirm that Season 5 would be the final entry in the Prime Video adaptation. According to the showrunner, the fifth season has always been when he wanted to end the show, but he just had to wait a bit before he could confirm the news.

Kripke also said he was excited to bring the story to “a gory, epic, moist climax.”

“#TheBoys Season 4 Premiere Week is a good time to announce: Season 5 will be the Final Season,” Kripke shared in a post on X (formerly Twitter). “Always my plan, I just had to be cagey till I got the final OK from Vought. Thrilled to bring the story to a gory, epic, moist climax. Watch Season 4 in 2 DAYS, cause the end has begun!”

The Boys Season 4 will premiere on Prime Video on June 13, 2024.

“In Season Four, the world is on the brink,” reads the new season’s synopsis. “Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to the Oval Office and under the muscly thumb of Homelander, who is consolidating his power. Butcher, with only months to live, has lost Becca’s son and his job as The Boys’ leader. The rest of the team are fed up with his lies. With the stakes higher than ever, they have to find a way to work together and save the world before it’s too late.”

Based on the comic book series created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The Boys is created and executive produced by Supernatural creator Eric Kripke. Besides Urban and Starr, the next season will also feature the return of Jack Quaid, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford, Nathan Mitchell, Claudia Doumit, Colby Minifie, Simon Pegg, and Cameron Crovetti. Joining them are series newcomers Valorie Curry (The Tick), Susan Heyward (Orange is the New Black), Rosemarie DeWitt (The Staircase), Rob Benedict (Supernatural), and Elliot Knight (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II), with DeWitt tapped for the role of Hughie’s mom.
