The popular Chinese drama The Double released its final episode on June 22, 2024. Youku also released a bonus episode. According to the official trailer, the couple in the show gets their happy ending. The special bonus episode is called “The Married Life of Xue Fang Fei & Xiao Heng,” and it shows moments from the couple’s life after they get married.
Fang Fei (Wu Jinyan) is seen getting dressed up to visit Ye Shijie, who has been appointed to preside over the entry exam. Xiao Heng (Wang Xingyue) is as jealous as ever to see his wife care about someone who has feelings for her. Fang Fei invites him to accompany her. She kisses him to show her devotion towards him.
In the next scene, Fang Fei studies late at night. She prepares to teach poetry at the School of Integrity. Her husband refuses to go to sleep without her. Fang Fei and Xiao Heng play together to kill time.
Fang Fei unpacks gifts sent by Situ Jiuyue, who has sent tokens of appreciation for introducing Zhao to her. Xiao Heng gets a little jealous that Jiuyue never gifted him so many items, even when he saved her life.

The next scene shows the couple’s lovely daughter, who throws tantrums and demands her mother tell her a story. No story suits her taste, and she requests her parents tell her a new story. Xiao Heng tells his daughter stories of her parents and how he fell for Fang Fei.
Time passes, and the next scene takes viewers to the eighth year of the couple’s marriage. Xiao Heng confirms that he is content with his life. The country is finally peaceful, and the people are happy and prosperous. He continues to work at the court while Fang Fei is busy at school. Although she seems to be too occupied with work at times, their love for each other never gets compromised. Xiao Heng promises to the viewers to continue loving his family.
