The ongoing costume C-drama The Double, starring Wu Jinyan and Wang Xingyue in the lead roles, released episode 13 on June 6, 2024. This episode focuses on Fang Fei and Yu Rong’s murderous encounter. In episode 12, viewers saw Fang Fei (Wu Jinyan) attending the banquet arranged by the emperor.

In the latest episode, Princess Wanning arrives at the event and demands to play a few games with the guests. At her command, Fang Fei is given an arrowhead and instructed to hit a live target. Shen Yu Rong volunteers to be the target. Fang Fei is focused and determined to prove her worth as a skilled archer. But just as she shoots the arrow, Wanning deliberately pushes her from behind, leading her to miss the target kept on Yu Rong’s head.

The arrow is about to hit Yu Rong, but Xiao Heng (Wang Xingyue) arrives there on time and is able to strike the arrow down with his blade.

Xiao Heng’s intrusion leads to an argument between him and Wanning, who accuses him of trying to spoil her fun. But Xiao Heng intends to keep the banquet safe as he has promised the emperor. He makes it clear that no one, including the princess, is allowed to tarnish the emperor’s reputation by causing unnecessary trouble.

Xiao Heng scolds Fang Fei for attempting something so risky and reminds her that she is still an amateur. After he leaves, Fang Fei apologizes to Shen Yu Rong. Her mind goes back to the night when Shen Yu Rong tried to kill her. She can not help but think that it was Princess Wanning who manipulated Yu Rong and turned him against her.

Meanwhile, Fang Fei receives a secret note from Yangbao. He asks her to meet him in secret at the Yuxiu Pavilion. Then, the viewers see Yue come over to offer Fang Fei a drink.

The Double episode 13: Wang Xingyue prevents a disaster involving Wu Jinyan

Although Fang Fei refuses to drink at first, after Yue insists, she hesitantly drinks the liquor. Soon she starts to feel dizzy, and Yue takes her to the guest quarter. Meanwhile, Ye Shijie has also overindulged on alcohol and wishes to get some rest.

But in reality, Fang Fei could sense the danger beforehand and did not consume the liquor. She wakes up after Yue leaves her alone. Ye Shijie enters the room and tries to get close to Fang Fei. But she puts her sharp hairpin to his throat and forces him to sober up. She is surprised to find out that he is not under the influence of alcohol either.

It does not take Fang Fei long to figure out that someone plotted to trap them together to tarnish her reputation. She decides to immediately leave the palace while there is no one outside.

As she attempts to sneak out, Xiao Heng stops her. He is suspicious of her yet again and asks her why she wants to kill Shen Yu Rong. He asks Fang Fei to be careful, as it won’t take him long to find out her secret. After a long interrogation, he decides to let her go. However, Fang Fei asks for his help to find out the relationship between Shen Yu Rong and Princess Wanning.

In episode 13 of The Double, Jiang Ruoyao goes to the guest room to catch Fang Fei and Ye Shijie red-handed in the act of adultery. She can not find them anywhere but catches her fiancé, Yanbang, in bed with Yue.

Then, the episode shows Fang Fei breaking down in front of Tong, as she could never expect the princess to be the person who manipulated her husband. Meanwhile, Jiang Li’s father summons her.

Afterward, Fang Fei is able to prove her innocence in front of the Jiang family. She narrates everything that went down the night before. She assures everyone that, although she consumed alcohol, she did not do anything improper with Ye Shijie.

The Double is available to stream throughout the week on Youku.
