The ongoing costume C-drama The Double, starring Wu Jinyan and Wang Xingyue in the lead roles, released episode 16 on June 9, 2024. As seen in the trailer, the drama focuses on Fang Fei’s (Wu Jinyan) search for justice after her husband attempts to murder her. Episode 16 focuses on Fang Fei visiting the underground market in disguise.
The episode also shows Li Jin and Xiao Heng watching from afar as Fang Fei stands up for the Ye family. Li Lin finds this quite strange, as this can lead to her being punished for covering up for a crime. On the other hand, Xiao Heng has faith in Fang Fei’s decision. As people continue questioning Fang Fei and her statements’ authenticity, she assures the gatherers.
She tells them that as the daughter of the secretariat director, she knows that impersonating relatives of an official is a crime. She defends her father’s honesty by saying that he abandoned his own daughter for several years after she committed a minor mistake. Furthermore, Fang Fei criticizes the governor for barging inside the residence and making an arrest without conducting any proper investigation.
According to her, if the Ye family’s Soochow brocade caused any deaths, the authorities should send the bodies for autopsy first.
