As you get started on Nintendo’s amazing new Legend of Zelda adventure, Echoes of Wisdom, long-term fans of the series may well break into a smile as they realize that the game’s map is a modern-day recreation of the Hyrule map we first encountered in A Link to the Past all those years ago.
Now though, for the first time in decades, players are able to play as Princess Zelda herself as this admirable addition to the IP finally arrives on the Switch.
The internet being the internet plenty of helpful interactive maps have popped up to save you the trouble of finding everything yourself – as if you would want to play a game to do that. As ever, some are better than others, some nicely parcel off the essentials, and others will always go for an approach of throwing everything on there and hoping a large number of markers is what sticks with gamers, rather than actually being helpful.

We have picked three Echoes of Wisdom Interactive Maps and pitted them head to head to find the ultimate interactive map for your next Hyrule adventure.
Map Battle
MapGenie
The good folks at MapGenie, known as one of the better mapping sites out there, are quick to the punch with their Zelda map. At this stage, there aren’t bazillions of markers on there, which we prefer, but over time we imagine many more will be added.
At the moment Area, Waypoints. Heart Pieces and Echoes are all well-covered and the overall color aesthetic is very nice.
Polygon
Polygon’s Interactive map on the other hand has very little of the niceties of the MapGenie effort. The map is there and the markers are present but the filter is a little weird and flies out only when you hover over it.
There is no way to tell how many of each map marker there are but you can at least filter it down by unchecking the boxes.
Raiderking
We came across Raiderking’s map on Reddit with the usual line about, “Oh hi guys, I am just one of you guys and I thought this interactive map I just threw together might be useful.
As it happens they are not wrong. The map looks nice enough and has good icons that are easily switched on and off. Again though, unlike Map Genie’s effort there is no marker count so it’s tough to know if you have everything you are trying to collect.
Winner
It has to be Mapgenie. The site has the best technology honed over dozens of maps. It can be easy to get bogged down on MG’s maps at times but as long as you are on top of the filter it is not difficult to drill down to what you want. And, on this occasion, it is also the best-looking of the three on show here.
