Tourism department awards over $500k to tourism event growth program

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – On Tuesday, the New Mexico Tourism Department (NMTD) announced an investment into the Tourism Event Growth & Sustainability Program. They say it will offer technical assistance to eligible New Mexico entities that host tourism-related events.

For FY25, NMTD is awarding $533,238 in support of 38 events. This represents an increase of $77,536 over FY24.

New Mexico natural resources department got record funding this year, so what did it spend it on?

The program offers three options of support. The first is an event accelerator that helps tourism events level up through technical support and strategic planning. The second is a cooperative marketing model that pools resources between NMTD and participating entities. The third is sponsorship support for established tourism events. This year, 10 events will be participating in the accelerator, 14 will be in the marketing cooperative, and 14 will be participating in the sponsorship module.

More information about the Tourism Event Growth & Sustainability Program is available on the NMTD website.
