While still in the sprints of an unbelievably packed 2024, Trombone Shorty looks forward to 2025 today as he announces the return of his Shorty Gras Tour. After seeing massive acclaim for his 14-stop debut series that brought the energy of Mardi Gras up the East Coast in February and March, the brass pathbreaker will turn his triumph into a tradition next year with its second-annual iteration. From March 6-22, Shorty and Orleans Avenue will take their celebration of New Orleans music and culture to 12 stops across the country, with support from Big Easy contemporaries Tank & the Bangas.
Shorty and his crew will kick off their 2025 Shorty Gras Tour with an appearance The Flynn in Burlington, Vt. on March 6, then trek down to Port Chester, N.Y. for two nights on the storied stage of The Capitol Theatre on March 7 and 8. Next, the ensemble will take their show to the Midwest for a trio in Ohio and Indiana on March 8, 11 and 12, then bear south to The Volunteer State for a set at Nashville, Tenn.’s famed Ryman Auditorium on March 15 and Memphis, Tenn.’s Minglewood Hall on March 16. After assuming the spotlight at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, Okla. on March 18, the bands will conclude their holiday roadshow with three nights in Austin, Dallas and Houston, Texas on March 20-22.
