Tucumcari man sentenced to 10 years after attempting sexual conduct with fictitious children

TUCUMCARI, N.M. (KRQE) – Joseph Gadman, a 42-year-old from Tucumcari, received a 10-year prison sentence after getting caught by an undercover Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent.

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) says Gadman contacted an undercover agent on social media in 2022. Then, over text, Gadman showed interest in sexual activity with young children, the DOJ says. But, he did not know that he was speaking to an undercover FBI agent about fictitious children.

In 2003, Gadman traveled to Albuquerque to meet the children. The FBI arrested him, and he denied planning on following through with sexual activity, the FBI says.

After facing charges in Federal court, Gadman has now received a 10-year sentence. After his prison sentence, he will have to serve 10 years of supervised release. He will also have to register as a sex offender, the DOJ says.
