A sense of mounting disarray surrounds the music awards this year – expect a scaled-down event at Abbey Road studios (no sponsor has been forthcoming) and the usual sense of mild confusion about what exactly is being celebrated. The do is being filmed and broadcast live, with this year’s leading contenders including Charli xcx (for the summer-defining Brat), Corinne Bailey Rae (for Black Rainbows), Cat Burns (above, for Early Twenties) and Beth Gibbons (for Lives Outgrown).
