Uncle Samsik episode 9: Song Kang-Ho & Byun Yo-Han proceed further in their plan

The latest Uncle Samsik episode began with assemblymen opposing Kang Seong-Min passing the Local Government Act. Sun Woo-Seok asked Seong-Min to apologize to Kim San for punching him. However, Kim San expressed that it was unnecessary before leaving the meeting. He then met with his ex-fiancée, Yeo-Jin, asking why she returned to the city as a reporter. Yeo-Jin requested him to not make things awkward between them.

Meanwhile, Uncle Samsik visited ailing Ahn Yo-Seop a second time and promised to help his son Ahn Ki-Cheol. While discussing the prospect of merging both Democratic and Liberal Parties, Woo-Seok reiterated suspicions about Seong-Min founding the Sineui Alliance. However, Uncle Samsik managed the situation, assuring Seong-Min of President Rhee’s victory in the upcoming election.

The following day, Woo-Seok made Kim San meet a Democratic Party member, asking Kim San to present a proposal for the National Reconstruction Bureau. Kim San thanked Woo-Seok for recommending him. Woo-Seok, however, asked Kim San to keep it to himself, but the message eventually reached Uncle Samsik. The latter confronted Woo-Seok, threatening him to not sway Kim San anymore. Back at the Defense Unit, Jung Doo-Sik and Jung Han-Min recalled the moment they met with General Choi Han-Rim and agreed to participate in the coup d’etat.

Meanwhile, in a conversation with Kim San, Rachel Jung revealed how she created the Albright Foundation. She told him about her uncle, Senator Jeremy Albright, who became the foreign minister. Rachel recalled how the Senator spoke highly of Kim San. During a conversation over drinks, Rachel confessed that she was the one planning the coup d’etat and the one who chose Kim San and General Han-Rim for the same. She wished to have a capable leader to take over the country.

Rachel made a lucrative offer to Kim San when she asked him to choose her and earn the Albright Foundation in return. As the two got intimate, Rachel asked Kim San to keep his meeting with Han-Rim a secret. At night, Uncle Samsik met Kim San, asking the latter not to pay heed to Woo-Seok. Kim San revealed he shared drinks with Rachel, which made Uncle Samsik happy.

Ahead of the elections, Rhee Seung-Min’s party held rehearsal voting sessions with the citizens, which reached Aemin Daily. A reporter then left to investigate the same. When Yeo-Jin asked to investigate Seong-Min’s connection with the Sineui Alliance, the editor rejected her pitch, fearing her safety. However, she sought a fellow reporter’s help to get information of Sineui Alliance members.

At the Capital Defense Command, soldiers received care packages from an unknown importer. Meanwhile, prosecutors arrested Jin-Wook on charges of bribery as per Uncle Samsik’s plan. The latter further planted Hang Young-Ki to arrest Major General Min Soo-Chul of the Captain Defense Unit for espionage. With his newly made alliances there, Uncle Samsik plotted Jang Doo-Sik to become the new commander of Capital Defense, who appointed Jung Han-Min as his deputy. This way, Doo-Sik and Han-Min could control Han-Rim’s moves.

By the end of the episode, Yeo-Jin discovered that Jin-Woo also looked for Sineui Alliance members, indicating Seong-Min’s involvement in the alliance. She drafted a whole story on how corrupt the upcoming elections were and where the true motives lie. At the end of the episode, Cha Tae-Min reinstated the Sineui Alliance as Kim San confessed his relationship with Rachel to Uncle Samsik. The latter knew Rachel planned the coup d’etat and advised Kim San to stick to their original plan.
