UNM ready to leave lasting impact at hostile NMSU

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The UNM football team is still in search of its first win of the season as it prepares for its rivalry game against NMSU. While many in the Lobos program say that this is just another game against a “faceless” opponent, coach Mendenhall acknowledge that a win in a game of this magnitude can easily have future implications.

“Those memories, they last for a long time,” Mendenhall said. “There are certain games, and even though there are college careers, there are certain games that are defining moments and maybe stick out and last longer. These type of games are normally, they’re a little stickier and they last longer.”

The game will mark the third of the season on the road for the Lobos. UNM has excelled in each of its previous two, averaging 449 yards of total offense, and this contest looks to be another opportunity to thrive in a hostile environment.

“I just love playing in those hostile crowds and environments,” said receiver Luke Wysong. “It just kind of makes me think these people don’t want you here, they don’t like you, so might as well make them not like you even more.”
