UPDATE: 3rd body found in Sunland Park desert

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Sunland Park Department helped in the recovery of another body out in the desert on Tuesday afternoon, June 25, the department said via its X social media account.

Sunland Park Fire has now helped with three body recovery operations in less than 24 hours.

This latest incident happened in the desert area northwest of the 1000 block of Camino Real Avenue, Sunland Park Fire said. They assisted Border Patrol, Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office and the Office of the Medical Investigator with the recovery. The call came in just before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Monday night, two bodies were recovered in the desert in Doña Ana County. Sunland Park Fire also assisted in those operations.

The Fire Department says the first body was found just before 9 p.m. in the desert off Highway 9 and the second body was found just after 10 p.m. off Strauss Road.

Both of the bodies were found by Border Patrol, according to the Fire Department.

The incident is under investigation by the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office and the Office of the Medical Investigator.
