Volcano Vista wrestling adds former Missouri coach of the year to staff

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The volcano vista girls wrestling team is a consistent contender for a state championship and the team field one of the deepest rosters in the state. Now, the hawks have bolstered the team by bringing on former Valencia high standout, Lori Ann Archuleta, as associate head coach. Archuleta comes to volcano vista with an established coaching resume that includes five years in Missouri, where she was a two-time coach of the year.

“The goal is with the addition of Lori as associate head coach, to come in and help the girls team be a top 25 team in the nation,” said head coach Ahren Griego.

“Seeing that they are growing the teams [in New Mexico] with like 20-30 girls on the team is just a great thing to see,” Archuleta said. “I would love to continue to grow that to get New Mexico on the map.”
