Warm and dry ending to the week for most of New Mexico

New Mexico has another warm and dry day ahead. Rain is not expected to return to the state until Friday.

The high pressure system that formed over the Rocky Mountains earlier this week is now moving across New Mexico. The sinking air associated with the high pressure are clearing the skies in New Mexico and allowing temperatures rise. By Thursday and Friday, high temperatures could potentially be record breaking across the state.

Another backdoor cold front will move into New Mexico on Friday. This cold front will bring rain back to New Mexico. Isolated storms are expected in the Sangre de Cristo and Jemez Mountains Friday Afternoon. This rain will be fairly short lived as the showers will decrease in intensity on Saturday. The cold front will also be bringing breezy conditions to New Mexico throughout the day on Friday. The wind will be the most prominent Friday afternoon and early evening.
