Today, fans of the late great rock ‘n’ roll star David Bowie have cause for celebration with the release of previously unseen footage of the artist’s Ziggy Stardust tour. Captured by longtime Bowie collaborator Mick Rock, who recorded many of Bowie’s aliases through the years (alongside other memorable frames like the Queen II album cover and the famous photo of Bowie, Lou Reed and Iggy Pop), these videos premiere today to support the release announcement for a Dolby Atmos spatial audio mix of Bowie’s ‘72 album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.

This latest release suits the uncovered film to the newly remastered audio of the standout single “Starman,” syncing the artist’s performance onstage with the studio recording between shots of the crowd going wild. These scenes are sourced from the artist’s 1972 and 1973 touring, when the artist took his extraterrestrial persona to the road in support of Ziggy Stardust and the subsequent Aladdin Sane; that tour would be the last ride for the beloved character, which Bowie retired shortly after, lending the footage another degree of captivating gravity.

The “Starman” video follows a similarly synced “Ziggy Stardust,” which arrived at the start of the summer. Both entries promote the first-ever Dolby Atmos version of the acclaimed recording, which will take Bowie’s sci-fi opus to new heights with on Sept. 6 with a Blu-Ray Audio copy from Parlophone Records.
