ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Waxing the City is hosting its first-ever “End of Summer Beauty Cawl,” bringing different beauty services to the public, all for a good cause. The crawl benefits APS students with critical needs.

Owner Jessica Carothers says the event is one-of-a-kind. “So people can go from room to room to experience different complimentary beauty services. We’re going to have complimentary eyebrow waxing, waxing demos; our sister company Blo Blowdry Bar will be there doing complimentary makeup, hair tinsel, braiding,” Carothers says.

The proceeds will benefit the APS McKinney-Vento Program. People can donate school supplies, and non-perishable food items, and receive an entry to win a raffle basket.

Community Coordinator with the McKinney-Vento Program Joey Wilson says McKinney-Vento advocates for students throughout APS who are experiencing homelessness in some form. “We have students who are doubled up, who are living in motels, cars, parks, you name it. We’ve seen just about every living situation that you can,” says Wilson. McKinney-Vento aims to get these kids enrolled in school.

The Waxing the City event is on Saturday, August 10, at 901 Rio Grande Blvd. NW from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
