Jimmy McCain will support Kamala Harris over Donald Trump

Jimmy McCain, the youngest son of the late Sen. John McCain, has decided to support Kamala Harris over Donald Trump in the upcoming election. This marks a significant shift in his political stance. The turning point for McCain came after Trump held a campaign at Arlington National Cemetery, which McCain considers a “violation.” He also emphasized his willingness to contribute to Harris’ campaign and said he’s ready to offer any support possible to help her win (via CNN).

McCain, who has served in the military for 17 years, described Trump’s actions at Arlington as deeply disrespectful. He said, “Arlington Cemetery is to go and show respect for the men and women who have given their lives to this country. When you make it political, you take away the respect of the people who are there” (via NBC).

Trump’s remarks about McCain’s father, including his infamous comment that he was “not a war hero” because he was captured during the Vietnam War, have long caused pain for the McCain family. For Jimmy McCain, the incident at Arlington was the final straw to support Harris.

In response to McCain’s comments, Trump campaign press secretary Karoline Leavitt defended Trump’s record. Leavitt claimed that “there has been no greater advocate” for the armed forces than the former president.
