The Connecticut Sun bid farewell to a promising WNBA campaign yesterday after conceding defeat to the Minnesota Lynx in the semifinal stage. Going into the match with the playoff series tied at 2-2, the Sun ended up losing their final game against the Lynx, 88-77. Aside from the disappointing loss, Connecticut suffered another setback after Marina Mabrey was taken out of the game due to an injury. But what actually happened to the 28-year-old shooting guard?

How did Marina Mabrey get injured while playing basketball?
Marina Mabrey sustained an ankle injury in the first half of the Sun’s WNBA game against the Lynx.
The unfortunate incident occurred with only 8:22 remaining in the second quarter. Marina Mabrey seemingly contracted an ankle injury after stepping on a photographer’s foot, who was stationed right behind the basket. While the veteran shooting guard tried to carry on with the game, she eventually retreated to the bench and then to her locker room.
However, Mabrey did make a final attempt to return to the match later. With 4:20 left in the half, she made a comeback to the game, only to exit the pitch after a minute in the second half.
When will Marina Mabrey return to play with Connecticut Sun?
At the time of writing, the exact nature of Marina Mabrey’s injury remains unknown. Consequently, it is difficult to predict her return to fitness as of now.
Connecticut coach Stephanie White admitted in a post-match conference that she substituted Mabrey for precautionary reasons. “She tried to give it a go, and just didn’t have it.
