Renowned talk show host and TV personality, Oprah Winfrey, has been hospitalized following a concerning health issue. Winfrey was supposed to be present at CBS Mornings but did not make it to the breakfast talk show. This left fans concerned and wondering why she was absent.
However, Oprah Winfrey’s best friend Gayle King has now revealed the details of the talk show host’s illness and why she was taken to the hospital.
Why was Oprah Winfrey hospitalized?
Oprah Winfrey was hospitalized due to a stomach flu.
Although Winfrey was unable to make it to the show, Gayle King, her best friend and fellow CBS anchor appeared on the show and updated fans on Winfrey’s condition. As per the Los Angeles Times, King said, “She had some kind of stomach thing – stomach flu – stuff was coming out of both ends.” Taking into consideration the nature of the health issue, she didn’t want to get “too graphic” and reveal more details.
As per Hello Magazine, she stated, “Needless to say, she ended up in the hospital, dehydration, had to get an IV. It was a very serious thing.” King also disclosed that even though Oprah Winfrey is hospitalized, her condition is stable and she is recovering. She continued by saying, “She will be OK. She will be OK. I hope she’s not mad at me for sharing that detail, but I wanted to make it clear that it mattered to her and it bothered her that she couldn’t be here for you today.” In a statement issued by another representative, fans were assured that Oprah Winfrey’s health is better and that she is resting and feeling better every day.
In the latest clip posted by King on Instagram, she can be seen having a conversation with Winfrey. Her surroundings indicated that she was out of the hospital and back at home. She said, “I was in the emergency room, I was so dehydrated. I had a dry mouth and I couldn’t keep enough water down to get hydrated, so I went to the emergency room for that, and that’s just it.”
