Fans eager to catch Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone’s Oscar-winning movie La La Land on Netflix are wondering when it will leave the platform, on what date, and why. This curiosity comes after Netflix announced that La La Land was one of the titles that would be leaving the platform soon. It is also because, throughout the years, many movies and television shows that Netflix has not produced have often exited and entered the streaming service.

So when is La La Land bidding farewell to Netflix? Why is it leaving the platform? Here are the answers to both questions.

When will La La Land leave Netflix?

La La Land will be leaving Netflix on October 31.

As such, fans have about two to three weeks to catch the Oscar-winning romantic musical drama on the platform. Other movies and shows expected to depart Netflix on October 31 include Tom Cruise’s Jack Reacher movies, World War Z, Key and Peele Seasons 1-3, Jumanji, and Eat, Pray, and Love.

Why is La La Land leaving Netflix?

La La Land is leaving Netflix because the streaming platform’s license to stream the film expires in October.

This is not at all surprising, as Netflix did produce the movie. Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment produced and distributed it.

Directed and written by Damien Chazelle, La La Land follows the bittersweet and turbulent romance between a struggling jazz artist (Ryan Gosling) and an aspiring actress (Emma Stone) who meet while pursuing their respective dreams in Los Angeles. La La Land won several accolades at the Oscars, including Best Director for Chazelle and Best Actress for Stone.

In addition to Gosling and Stone, La La Land also includes the talents of John Legend, Rosemarie DeWitt, J.K. Simmons, Amiee Conn, Thom Shelton, and Cinda Adams.
