Which ice cream flavor does New Mexico order the most?

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – The sun is out and one of the best ways to beat the heat is a couple of scoops of your favorite ice cream. But which ice cream reigns supreme in your state? Instacart recently came out with a list of the favorite flavors from across the country.

The data, culled from Instacart’s purchase data, claims that Rocky Road is New Mexico’s top ice cream flavor, a sentiment shared by most of the western states. Patches of orange sherbet fandom can be found throughout the country as well as Moose Tracks and chocolate chip.

“It’s fascinating to see Rocky Road’s regional popularity in the West, likely fueled by its creation in California during the Great Depression, which gives it a strong regional connection. Additionally, its bold and diverse texture perfectly align with the adventurous spirit of the West,” says Instacart’s Trends Expert, Laurentia Romaniuk.

New Mexico also orders more than their fair share of ice cream compared to the rest of the country. The Land of Enchantment is on par with Wyoming, ordering 5% over the national average.

National Ice Cream Day is on July 21. Which flavor will you be celebrating with?
