Joker 2: Folie a Deaux hit theaters around the world, to provide them with a continuation of Arthur Fleck’s story. However, the movie by the end leaves the viewers with many unanswered questions. One question that has popped up following the ending of Joker 2 is who attacked and planned the explosion in the courtroom during Arthur Fleck‘s trial. Although the movie doesn’t seem to provide much explanation behind the courtroom explosion.
Here are a few possibilities suggesting the identity of the mystery attacker.
Who caused the car bomb courtroom explosion to help Arthur in Joker 2?
In Joker 2: Folie a Deaux fans witness Arthur Fleck go through a trial for the murders that he committed in cold blood in the first movie. Additionally, the movie also throws light upon the identity of Joker and whether it was a whole different persona.
In the courtroom trial, while his lawyers try to prove that it was not Fleck but his alternate personality, the Joker that committed the murders, Fleck feels the guilt build upon him. Thus, in the deciding moments of the trial, Arthur Fleck gives up his Joker persona and confesses to being solely responsible for the murders. Soon after Fleck’s confession, Lee Quinzel aka Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn leaves him and exits the courtroom when a car bomb explosion occurs.
Although Phillips hasn’t provided any explanation behind it, here are two possibilities. The first possibility suggests that Harley Quinn was behind the explosion. The possible reason is that she knew Arthur Fleck would be punished harshly following the confession, so this was a way to help him escape. However, in the aftermath of the explosion the audience learns that Quinn was obsessed with Fleck’s Joker identity and not him, thus she bids him farewell after his confession.
The second possibility points to the Joker’s followers being behind the explosion. However, their motive is not clear, considering Fleck could’ve been killed in the explosion as well.
