Nicole Brown Simpson’s latest Lifetime documentary honors her sister Dominique Brown’s late son, Aaron Brown. The network announced The Life & Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson on April 12, two days after former NFL star OJ Simson’s death. The four-part docuseries aired over two consecutive nights on June 1 and June 2, 2024.
According to US Weekly, the documentary consists of multiple interviews with Nicole Brown Simpson’s sisters — Dominique Brown, Denise, and Tanya. The siblings come forward for the first time to share an intimate account of Brown Simpson’s life and tragic murder. They also touched upon OJ Simpson’s alleged abuse. Others who participated in the documentary include Kris Jenner, the victim’s close friend. Moreover, a former police officer and other detectives recounted their encounters with Simpson.
Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman, a Los Angeles waiter, were murdered outside her Brentwood condo on June 12, 1994. Brown Simpson’s ex-husband, OJ Simpson, faced charges and stood trial in 1995. Simpson’s captivating trial, known as the trial of the century, concluded when the jury acquitted him of murder charges. Over the decades, there has been a lot of speculation that Simpson murdered Brown Simpson and Goldman and got away with it. Later, he also faced a civil trial when a jury found him guilty.
What happened to Aaron Brown & what have Nicole Brown Simpson’s sisters said about the documentary?
TODAY reported that Aaron Brown, the only child of Nicole Brown Simpson’s sister Dominique Brown, died in 2022. He was 33 years old and “the light of his mother’s life,” per his obituary. Brown Simpson’s sisters, including Dominique, featured in the Lifetime’s The Life & Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson. They attempted to “humanize” their sister three decades after her murder. The documentary also featured archival footage of the victim herself.
According to CBS News, Brown Simpson’s sisters are among many speaking out in the new documentary. The elder sister, Denise Brown, revealed she “started conversations 10 years ago for the 20th anniversary.” However, Denise claimed that “then it just didn’t feel right,” explaining, “so we tried the 25th anniversary and it didn’t feel right then, either.” She added, “And then I asked my sisters, I said, ‘Do you guys want to do something? Let’s humanize Nicole” to let her “voice be heard” and to “tell her story.” They want the world to know “who Nicole really was.”
Nicole Brown Simpson’s latest documentary looks into her and OJ Simpson’s abusive marriage. It also comprises interviews with 50 people who were close to Brown Simpson and were involved in her murder investigation. Her sister Tanya Brown stated she “walked away very angry” after “watching and listening to the documentary.” Tanya claimed she “had no idea what a horrible person he [OJ Simspon] was to her.”
Dominique Brown called Brown Simpson “a beach girl” who “loved her children.” She believes that in the last two years of her sister’s life, “freedom reemerged.” She also recalled seeing the mother of three “in that period of time, running, being with her children, going to recitals, doing things with the kids and the family and all of that. Additionally, she claimed, “I think that ease came back to her, and I love that. We’d like to remember Nicole smiling.”
US Weekly stated that The Life & Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson honored her parents and Dominique’s son, Aaron Brown. Meanwhile, TODAY reported that Denise, 66, is the eldest of the four Brown sisters. Nicole Brown Simpson was the second eldest, and she was 35 at the time of her murder. Dominique is the third eldest among the sisters and was 29 at the time of Brown Simpson’s death. Lastly, Tanya is the youngest and is now a 54-year-old public speaker and life coach.
