Australian actress Yerin Ha has been cast as Sophie Beckett in Bridgerton Season 4, but many might not know much about her. For months, Bridgerton fans have been waiting with bated breath on who would be cast as the love interest for Luke Thompson’s Benedict Bridgerton in the upcoming season of the popular Netflix adaptation. Yerin Ha, an Australian actress of Korean descent, was born on June 26, 1995 in Sydney, making her 29 at the time of writing. She’s somewhere between 5’1″ and 5’2″.
Yerin Ha is best known for playing Kwan Ha in the Paramount+ adaptation of the video game series Halo. She also starred as Ah Rah Park on Troppo, a TV series on ABC, and as Alice on the four-part drama series Bad Behaviour in Australia.
Movie fans might recognize her as Tracey from the 2022 movie Sissy. That said, her upcoming role as Sophie Beckett, as confirmed by Variety, will likely make her much more well-known.
Why is Yerin Ha’s Sophie Beckett important in Bridgerton Season 4?
Yerin Ha will be playing Sophie Beckett, who in the Bridgerton books by Julia Quinn Benedict Bridgerton’s love interest and eventual wife.
In the third novel in the series, An Offer From a Gentleman, Sophie is introduced as the illegitimate child between the Earl of Penwood and a maid. Because of this, the Earl ignores her. Sophie’s stepmother and daughters also disparage her due to her illegitimacy. If this all sounds rather familiar, Sophie’s story is meant to be a re-creation of Cinderella.
That said, the Netflix series tends to alter details from the source material, so it’s not clear how close Yerin Ha’s Sophie Beckett will be to the original version. So it may not end up being as obvious of a fairy tale.
Still, this provides further confirmation that Benedict Bridgerton will be the main character of Season 4 after being a side character in Season 3 where has a dalliance with Lady Tilley Arnold and her friend Paul. According to Netflix’s Tudum, Benedict will spot Sophie as a “captivating Lady in Silver” at a masquerade ball.
