Lara Trump’s latest music video has sparked a wave of criticism across social media. This has left many curious about the reasons behind the backlash. As the backlash against the daughter-in-law of former President Donald Trump’s song intensifies, many want to understand what has led to such a negative reaction online.

Here is everything to know about why Lara Trump’s new music video is facing backlash.

Lara Trump faces backlash over her new music video

Lara Trump, the daughter-in-law of Donald Trump and co-chair of the Republican National Committee, has once again found herself at the center of social media backlash with the release of her new music video for the song “Hero.” In collaboration with singer Madeline Jaymes, the video is intended as a tribute to firefighters, featuring highly auto-tuned vocals and lyrics like, “You’re climbing up the ladder, and the screams get louder, you’re my hero.” This has led to people criticizing the song.

Released in August 2024, the video shows a fire escape and Trump and Jaymes performing in a studio. The music video also features footage of firefighters in action. However, rather than being met with praise, the video has sparked widespread ridicule online. Political commentator Travis Akers quipped on X (formerly Twitter) that anyone subjected to the “abominable sounds” of Lara Trump singing might be entitled to compensation. Comedian Tony Posnanski also chimed in, humorously claiming his dogs preferred fireworks over listening to the song.

Critics have been particularly harsh, with anti-Trump strategist Rick Wilson comparing the tune to “a wild hog and a sack of rusty cans being thrown into an industrial wood chipper.” Others have echoed similar sentiments, with one user even comparing every note to a violation of the Geneva Convention.

I just heard a something that sounded like a wild hog and a sack of rusty cans being thrown into an industrial wood chipper.

Oh wait.

It was Lara Trump’s new “song.”

This isn’t the first time Lara Trump’s musical pursuits have been met with skepticism. She previously went viral in 2023 for a widely mocked cover of “I Won’t Back Down” by Tom Petty. Despite the ongoing criticism, Trump continues to push forward with her music career.
