One of the biggest questions about Season 2 of The Last of Us TV show is whether it’ll follow the story of TLOU Part 2 video game. The first season was a relatively faithful rendition of the original game. Still, there were enough changes to keep longtime fans of the franchise on their toes. So, we have to wonder, will the TV show go off the rails entirely or stick close to the original material?

From what we know so far, Season 2 of The Last of Us TV show will follow the story of the second video game reasonably closely. Promo images and casting decisions revealed so far point to a plot similar to TLOU Part 2.

So far, the following characters from The Last of Us Part 2 have been cast for Season 2 of the TV show:

Abby Anderson – Kaitlyn Dever

Dina – Isabela Merced

Jesse – Young Mazino

Manny – Danny Ramirez

Mel – Ariela Barer

Nora – Tati Gabrielle

Owen – Spencer Lord

Given that these characters are tightly wound into Ellie and Abby’s stories, it’s highly unlikely the key plot points will change between the game and the show.

However, we may see some differences. For example, Bill and Frank’s story in the first season was drastically different than it was in the game. It’s possible big scenes like Joel’s death might be handled differently. Some characters might survive that didn’t in the game, and some that survived may die. Despite any differences, we can assume that the season will center around Ellie and Abby’s quests for revenge.

Unfortunately, The Last of Us Season 2 will not be released until 2025. We’ll have to wait until then to get the answers to all our questions.
