Woman in crosswalk killed in hit-and-run in North Hollywood

A pedestrian was killed after she was hit by a car in North Hollywood on Friday night, Aug. 16, police said.

A Toyota Corolla struck the woman, described as being in her late 20s, as she walked in a marked crosswalk at the intersection of Victory Boulevard and Beck Avenue around 7 p.m., according to an LAPD news release.

The driver, described as in his 50s, continued driving westward without stopping, police said. The Corolla was later discovered abandoned on the curb of Victory Avenue east of Troost Avenue.

The Los Angeles Fire Department transported the victim to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her name was not released.
