What happened at the end of X-Men ’97 Episode 10?
A lot happens towards the end of X-Men ’97 Episode 10 as President Kelly executes the Magneto Protocol, launching missiles toward Asteroid M. Meanwhile, the X-Men give Bastion a shot at redemption, but he chooses not to join them. He likely dies getting caught in the explosion when the missiles hit Asteroid M’s core.
The whole structure begins to crash down on Earth. Before the team unites to stop it from destroying the planet, Cyclops and Jean telepathically say goodbye to Cable before making their final sacrifice play. Meanwhile, Professor X guides Magneto’s shattered mind back to his body. Returning to his senses, Magneto stops Asteroid M and guides it off the planet along with the X-Men.
But as the world begins to celebrate, the X-Men vanish all of a sudden. Six months pass in the present timeline and Bishop shows up to unite with Forge, who is still trying to keep tabs on other mutants. The former reveals that a mystery persona teleported the X-Men across time.
The final cliffhanger of the episode shows most X-Men members, including Professor X and Magneto, in 3000 BC, where they come across the younger version of Apocalypse, En Sabah Nur. On the other hand, Jean and Cyclops find themselves in the year 3960 AD where they meet Mother Askani and the Clan Askani, and a young Nathan Summers.
While there’s no clarity on who sent the X-Men through time, someone could likely have scattered them to stop the Age of Apocalypse by fighting him in different eras.

In the post-credits scene, Apocalypse arrives in present-day Genosha and looks at Gambit’s card, teasing his return. But the villain’s appearance points to the Age of Apocalypse storyline being the focal point of X-Men ’97 Season 2.
The X-Men meeting En Sabah Nur in 3000 BC also confirms the same, as they could be working on preventing the mutant from turning into his feared future self. Meanwhile, Bishop, Forge, and other leftover mutants would likely fight Apocalypse in the present day, and Cyclops and Jean would contribute by uniting with the Clan Askani, which led a rebellion against Apocalypse in the comics.
