110 firefighters stop blaze at deserted Montgomery Ward in Panorama City

A fire in the old Montgomery Ward building in Panorama City was knocked down on Monday, July 15 by 110 firefighters who worked for almost an hour to extinguish the flames. The firefighters were in a “defensive mode” at the abandoned split-level building which has been the scene of previous fires, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.

No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported. The cause is under investigation, according to LAFD spokesperson Lyndsey Lantz, via email. The fire was confined to the one-story section of the split-level building  and there was no damage to the two-story structure.

The fire was reported in the 14600 block of West Roscoe Boulevard about 12:35 p.m. on Monday, according LAFD. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
