24yo Romanian entrepreneur gets $0.5M from YCombinator for free Bac prep platform

Codruț Lemeni, a 24-year-old young man, obtained in March this year 0.5 million dollars from YCombinator, a prestigious program in Silicon Valley that launched tech giants such as Airbnb, Reddit and Dropbox, to develop Educato AI. a platform that offers high school students free and interactive exam preparation, especially for the Baccalaureate (the high school graduation exam in Romania).

The platform was launched in April this year by Codruț Lemeni together with Felix Gabler and Pierre-Louis Monnot. Educato AI has registered more than 800 high school students in the beta phase since launch, and as of this week the platform also allows general access.

In 2020, Codruț Lemeni launched the “VreauLa” project, helping more than 25,000 students prepare for university admission for free and for which he received the Forbes 30 under 30 award. Since then, he has worked together with the co-founders of Educato AI, Felix Gabler and Pierre-Louis Monnot, at the American technology company Palantir, where together they honed their skills to make a greater impact on the accessibility of education.

Over 2,000 unique questions

“We launched Educato AI at a time when students need comprehensive and accessible resources to excel in their studies. Our mission is to support high school students by offering them top educational tools at an affordable price,” said Codruț Lemeni, CEO and co-founder of Educato AI.

Registered users can access over 2,000 unique questions for subjects such as Romanian Literature, Mathematics, Physics and History. Feedback is instant.

Currently the Educato team is looking for volunteers to increase the content of the platform and for other subjects such as Logic, Philosophy, Chemistry and Biology.

Teachers can send content at contact@educato.ai.

The platform also allows students to participate in timed simulations of the Baccalaureate exam, where they can compare themselves with their peers. Another 1,000 sets of exercises, now in the verification phase, will be added in the coming weeks. These exercises are based on previous years’ baccalaureate exam formats.

The platform contains an AI grader for essays

Although the platform and all questions are free for students, Educato AI has also developed an AI grader for essays for which access costs 15 lei per week. This advanced tool provides instant and detailed feedback on student essays, ensuring that all students receive high-quality tutoring, even if they can’t afford a private tutor. AI Essay Evaluator analyzes structure, grammar, coherence and argumentation, helping students improve their writing skills and prepare effectively for the essay components of their exams.
