Car enthusiasts gather at Albuquerque Wheels Museum to admire classics of the past

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Wheels Museum in Albuquerque hit the gas a little early on appreciating collector cars in the community.

Collectors could bring their old cars to the museum this morning for an early celebration of “Collector Car Appreciation Day.”

From cars that are no longer in production to the hotrods you still see newer models of: the event highlighted old cars that one event-goer says are “more fun than the law allows.”

John Doran, a car collector, said the best thing to do with an old car is show it off. He also explained New Mexico is a special place to be a collector since many old cars don’t rust in the dry environment.

Collector Car Appreciation Day will be celebrated nationally this Friday, July 12.
