DDG mentioned that he and Halle reflected a lot on their relationship and had many heart-to-heart conversations before deciding to split. The Moonwalking in Calabasas rapper noted that the decision to break up was quite difficult but that he and Bailey mutually believed it was the best way forward.
DDG then noted that despite their break up, he and Halle Bailey still loved each other deeply. He then concluded by asking fans to understand their situation and support them as they navigated their split and co-parenting of Halo.
Halle Bailey and DDG, who first went public with their relationship in 2022, sparked break up rumors in April 2024. This was after they unfollowed each other on Instagram and took down many pictures they had taken together. However, the situation was cleared up by TMZ shortly after via a representative for Bailey, who confirmed the couple had still been together and going strong at the time.
Also, in April, The Little Mermaid actress opened up about her struggles with postpartum depression via Snapchat, where she explained she could not be away from her newborn son Halo “for more than 30 minutes at a time.” Here, she also stressed that DDG was very supportive of her during this time.
