Power restored after balloon bumps into Albuquerque power line

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A hot air balloon bumped into a power line and caused a power outage in Albuquerque on Monday, according to PNM.

At 8:35 a.m., the utility company said 12,500 customers lost power due to the incident involving the balloon. PNM said those in the balloon basket were reported to be safe without injuries.

The power was restored around 9:35 a.m. PNM did not say where the balloon incident took place.

If you do see a downed power line or damaged line, you are asked to call PNM at 888-342-5766 and 911. PNM asks that people stay at least 200 feet away from the line and not touch it.
