Bobi, cel mai bătrân câine din lume, a murit la cinci luni după ce a împlinit vârsta de 31 de ani în ferma unei familii din Portugalia unde şi-a petrecut întreaga viaţă, scrie luni, 23 octombrie, site-ul cotidianului britanic Daily Mail, potrivit Agerpres.

Vestea despre moartea celebrului patruped a fost făcută publică noaptea trecută de proprietarul unui studio fotografic din Lisabona dedicat animalelor de companie.

O fotografie a câinelui Bobi a fost distribuită pe reţelele de socializare alături de următorul mesaj: “Odihneşte-te în pace, prieten drag. Îţi suntem recunoscători pentru că ne-ai oferit privilegiul de a te întâlni, cel mai bătrân câine din lume. Ce viaţă minunată ai avut!”.

Bobi a fost certificat de Guinness World Record drept cel mai bătrân câine din lume în februarie 2023, înlocuindu-l pe precedentul deţinător al recordului, un chihuahua care a trăit în statul american Ohio.

Bobi, un exemplar de rasă pură Rafeiro do Alentejo – o rasă portugheză de câine păzitor de animale – a fost certificat, de asemenea, drept cel mai bătrân câine din toate timpurile. Precedentul record îi aparţinea unui câine de pază din Australia care a murit în 1939 la vârsta de 29 de ani şi cinci luni.

În general, câinii trăiesc între 10 şi 13 ani.

Vârsta câinelui Bobi a fost verificată de veterinarul său într-o bază de date pentru animale de companie care este autorizată de guvernul portughez.

În 1992, Bobi a fost înregistrat de Serviciul Medical Veterinar din oraşul Leiria, care confirmat data naşterii patrupedului. Vârsta lui a fost verificată şi de SIAC, o bază de date autorizată de guvernul portughez şi administrată de Uniunea Naţională a Veteranilor.

Stăpânul lui Bobi, Leonel Costa, a organizat o petrecere aniversară pentru celebrul său câine pe 11 mai 2023 în satul Conqueiros din districtul Leiria.

Preparate din carne locală şi peşte au fost servite celor peste 100 de invitaţi care au participat la acea petrecere – dintre care unii au venit cu avionul din străinătate – pentru a fi alături de Bobi, care a mâncat doar hrană pentru oameni.

Leonel Costa, în prezent în vârstă de 38 de ani, avea doar opt ani atunci când mult iubitul său prieten necuvântător s-a născut într-o magazie în care familia lui depozita alimente.

El consideră că longevitatea deosebită a animalului s-a datorat “mediului calm şi liniştit în care a trăit, dietei bazate pe hrană pentru oameni şi libertăţii sale”.

Bobi nu a fost niciodată legat cu lanţul şi nici nu a purtat vreodată o lesă.
