Albuquerque man takes plea deal in May 2023 fatal shooting

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque man admitted to shooting and killing his girlfriend last year after thinking she cheated on him. Carlos Hernandez pled no contest to involuntary manslaughter and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon for the May 2023 shooting.


New Mexico man facing federal charges for February shooting

Police say Hernandez and his girlfriend, Areli Rodriguez, got into an argument at their apartment near Louisiana and Ross leading to Hernandez shooting and killing her. He’s facing up to six years behind bars. A sentencing date has not yet been set.
