Albuquerque middle school students create prototypes to preserve water

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Around 400 Albuquerque students got to showcase their projects to help with watersheds. It’s part of a summer program at George I. Sanchez Middle School where they use STEAM skills. They had to develop prototypes to address water health challenges using tools like robotics, video game design, 3D printing, and E-textiles.

“I became more passionate in regard to this as students were able to teach me as well. The students were engaged and collaborative working together.. it was amazing,” said teacher Joella Galindo.

The program hopes the children will use the experience to change their community and find a pathway into high school with subjects like engineering or technology.
