Albuquerque murder suspect arrested for DWI to stay behind bars

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The murder suspect accused of DWI while released from custody will now remain behind bars. Emory Gallegos was staying at his grandma’s as he was awaiting his trial for the 2022 murder of William Vencil. However, police arrested Gallegos in June and said he was driving drunk on Coors near the bypass which violated his conditions of release.

“When you have such a serious charge as a murder, to think of someone, you know one o’clock in the morning, I believe it was when he was pulled over, after work, going to drink, and then, to the point of being aggravated. That’s what concerned the court initially when I revoked his conditions of release. And I’m still concerned. So I’m not going to release him,” said Judge Emeterio Rudolfo.

Gallegos’ murder trial set for December.
