Carpathian Single Malt Whisky Wins Double Gold scoring 98 points and Silver at San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2024

The Double Gold medal awarded to Carpathian Single Malt Whisky Vradiano Cask Finish that scored 98 points is an incredible achievement for a young whisky. Out of thousands of entries over the course of the year, only a small percentage are awarded Double Gold medals.

Carpathian Single Malt Whisky, the first Romanian single malt whisky in the Carpathian Mountains region, produced by the Alexandrion Group at the Alexandrion Saber Distilleries 1789 located in Bucov (Romania), skipped across the Atlantic to collect more accolades and awards at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC) 2024.

Allan Anderson, Master Distiller Carpathian Single Malt & Whisky Director Alexandrion Group, said: Double Gold medal winners are selected by the most trusted blind judging panels in the world. Scoring 98 points in the San Francisco World Spirits Competition is an incredible achievement for a whisky as young as Carpathian Single Malt Whisky. This Double Gold Medal reconfirms the exceptional quality and unique tasting notes of Vradiano, which was also recently awarded Country & Category ‘winner’ at the World Whiskies Awards 2024”.

Additionally, Carpathian Peated Cask Strength and Fetească Neagră expressions were awarded Silver Medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. “I’m very proud of all our results. Carpathian Single Malt Whisky has proven once again that it is a remarkable whisky, that both experts and consumers appreciate. I’m looking forward to the next competitions” added Allan Anderson.

Organised by the ‘Tasting Alliance’, starting in 2000, the San Francisco World Spirits Competition is the largest and longest-running blind evaluation competition in the space, using the guiding principles of legacy, integrity and impartiality in all that they do. Medal winners range from some of the most renowned international distillers to small-batch producers. The SFWSC medal is a testament to their hard work and universally recognised indicator of exceptional quality and craftsmanship. In 2022, the competition cemented its position as the largest spirits competition in the world with nearly 5,000 entries.
