ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The City of Albuquerque has another memorial dedicated to longtime public servant Ken Sanchez. The city formally unveiled the Ken Sanchez Pillar of the Community at Civic Plaza on Monday afternoon more than four years after his death.
Sanchez was a Bernalillo County Commissioner for eight years before serving as an Albuquerque City Councilor for the Westside for 14 years.
The Sanchez family joined city leaders for Monday’s reveal. “You know there’s one thing my dad said, and always said, was that in politics, city politics for sure. Half of the people are going to love you and half of them are going to hate you, and you have to work for all of them. Love you, hate you, whatever it is. and he did that,” said Jaclyn Sanchez.
His accomplishments included the Grant Patrick J. Baca Library and the Los Volcanes Senior Center Wall of Honored Veterans.
