Diego Pavia leads Vanderbilt to overtime victory

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque-native Diego Pavia started his first game at quarterback for Vanderbilt on Saturday. A standout at NMMI and NMSU, Pavia would bring some excitement to Vanderbilt in his first game as Commodores beat Virginia Tech in overtime at 34-27.

Pavia finished with a total of 3 touchdowns, getting 2 in the air on 190 yards passing and 1 TD on the ground with 104 yards rushing. Pavia showed his skills in big-time situations in this game, as he threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to tie the game at 27, and then rushed in the go-ahead touchdown in overtime.

Vanderbilt moves on to host Alcorn State next Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
